Whatās included?
This download includes one resource - two pages featuring x12 āhalfā problems (using fruit/veg) to complete - each of the x12 questions involves sharing the total amount (from 1 to 12) into two equal groups - āhalvesā. The learner will discover which numbers between 1 and 12 can and cannot be halved and of those numbers which can be halved equally learners will identify how much āhalfā is.
Resource layout
Learners draw a line from each fruit/veg to each āplateā pictured below to systematically share out the total number of items (fruit/veg) each time until all have been shared (or not!) Learners may find it helpful to say to themselves āOne for you and one for meā as each item is being distributed to each plate either physically or as the line is being drawn linking the fruit/veg to each plate, every time. Where the total number is āevenā (and the fruit/veg can be shared out equally) the learner can write the number of fruit/veg on one plate (the āhalfā amount) on the line underneath at the end of the question (e.g.) Half of 2 is ā¦4.
For the even numbers (which can successfully be split equally into half!) the learner can ācircleā the green ātickā displayed, for the odd numbers (which cannot be shared equally into half!) the learner can ācircleā the red ācrossā displayed before moving on to the next question.
At the end of the second sheet there are x12 matching questions about each individual number to recap on which of the numbers between 1 and 12 can/cannot be split equally into half. The colour of the box around each question correlates to the colour of the question completed above guiding the learner more clearly (visually) back to each question box above to check their finding if needed.
Recommendations
Small objects can be placed on top of each fruit/veg (I have successfully used small coloured matchsticks with this resource if these are not deemed a choking hazard for little learner/s). Once the correct number of matchsticks/items have been counted out onto each individual fruit/veg (above the plates) these can then be physically moved (again, as the learner says āOne for you, one for meā out loud each time) to one of the plates.
Useful forā¦
Once complete this resource makes a useful reference tool to refer back to as needed to assist young learners during various maths linked activities.

Whatās included?
This download includes x2 pages, portrait orientation, in pdf format.
What is it?
This is a simple game for two players to reinforce 2D shape names and the number of sides each shape has.
Whoās it for?
This ā2D shape name gameā resource has been designed for early years and pupils in years one and two as well as students needing additional learning support.
How to use it?
The game includes two boards on page 2 (one for each player) with a space for each player to write their names on the line above. All that is needed is a die (dice) and a pencil/pen (per player) to ātick offā shapes (once ārolledā) OR /game counters/small counting objects e.g. Duplo bricks - to place on top of each shape once ārolledā. One die is recommended (to āshareā) to promote turn-taking.
Players take turns to roll the die. The number on the die indicates the number of sides of the shape e.g. a circle has āoneā side therefore if the player rolls a āoneā with the die the ācircleā can be āticked offā on the board. Alternatively a counter/āmatching 2D plastic/wooden shapeā could be placed on top of each shape on the board once the shape has been ārolledā. The first player to tick off (or cover up!) all 2D shapes on their board is the āwinnerā !
Clear visual instructions are included on page 1 of this resource which the players could be encouraged to read themselves before playing the game. Brief instructions are also included at the top of page 2 (above the āgame boards).
Whatās needed?
One die (dice) to share or one each.
Resource layout
The instruction text is size 14 āAvenirā font. Instructions are included on page 1, the game itself (x2 game boards) are included on page 2.
Recommendations
For younger players having a set of these 2D shapes out while playing this game (to look at, hold and count the sides of) would benefit learners.
This PDF has been designed to print and write-on. It could be laminated and a dry-wipe pen used to enable reuse and improve durability.
Chunky sized dice are much easier for younger learners to use. Foam dice are great as they are really quiet!
A shallow box, e.g. half of an empty cereal box laid flat on its back with front removed (ideally lined with a piece āfeltā fabric to absorb sound) to roll the die into could be used to avoid dice rolling away (e.g. off a table top). This should avoid any momentum of the game being interrupted while searching for lost dice!

Whoās it for?
This resource has been designed to break down each step involved in writing these twelve numerals correctly, using green (go!) starting dots and red (stop!) dots to make it clear to learners exactly where to begin and end writing. Support (colour coded) arrows also guide learners on which direction to follow. This resource should help in providing some focused additional support looking at these numerals more closely.
This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support.

Colour coded arrows guide learners on which direction to follow. This resource should help in providing some focused additional support looking at these numerals more closely for those pupils who need a greater level of support and maybe find it harder to remember which direction to follow.

Whatās included?
This pdf download includes x5 landscape orientation sheets featuring x23 2D Shapes with clear step by step instructions to create colourful acetate/cellophane 2D shapes for (window) display.
Whatās it for?
These 2D shapes have been designed to install and sense of awe and wonder - the shapes look so beautiful when the sun shines through them and where the colour āfallsā depends on the position of the shape in relation to the sun which changes as the sunās position changes. The set gives an opportunity to showcase the whole set of 2D shapes together as a focus to encourage learners to recognise and name each 2D shape and become familiar with recognising and naming them as well as lots of exposure and so time to count the number of sides/corners and think about the properties of each e.g. which have straight/curved sides (or both!). The 2D shapes can of course be repositioned and displayed as you choose. I have included a ā2D shapesā label to be displayed with the set of shapes.
This resource would also support work on shadows and light/dark.
Whoās it for?
This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students who would appreciate a pop of colour shining through these shapes when the sun comes out!
Resource Details
The shapes all have a name label which is in the font āSassoon Infant Stdā - size 45. There are x5 pages. The first page includes clear instructions and the remaining pages include the set of shapes and 2D Shapes word label.
Suggestions
I recommend printing and making these letters out of white card - paper would be too flimsy and see-through so not effective. A set of coloured acetate/cellophane sheets is needed to make these - these are quite inexpensive on Amazon(!)
I recommend also backing every 2D shape in white card so that the coloured acetate/cellophane is concealed - this looks so much nicer on the window and makes each letter stronger however is twice the work and time and to do this x10 sheets of A4 white card will be needed (instead of x5 sheets).

Whatās included?
This download includes x4 sheets, all portrait orientation, pdf format.
Whatās it for?
This activity set has been designed to give learners an opportunity to look more closely at a set of the first 100/200 high frequency words and practise seeing these words on sight while matching these words with images. This set focuses on all ānumber namesā from āoneā to ātwentyā - all words included have a matching image (of the numeral and correct number of objects).
This is a simple, predictable activity to promote independence and consolidate learning. This activity is ideal for individuals/groups to be getting on with independently or those needing some individual 1:1 support.
Whoās it for?
This resource has been designed for Early Years children who are learning these sounds (and words/numbers) for the first time, pupils in Year 1 who need some practise/reinforcement of these sounds/words. This resource is also suitable for older learners with additional learning needs.
How to use it?
An adult can pre-cut along dotted lines provided and the set of x20 words (and images) can be shuffled and placed face-up on the carpet/a table top for learners to look at carefully and try to match.
Resource Detailsā¦
These words are all from the list of ācommon wordsā to read and spell. Some are also from the from the first 100/200 high frequency word list. It is possible to āsound outā āmostā of these words, however some are ātrickyā. Words to sound out can be identified by a āwhite tickā, tricky words can be identified by a white ācrossā.
In the āword boxā at the top-right there is a coloured ātriangleā. The colour indicates which phonics phase this word fits in with. Pink triangles indicate that the words are from āphase 2ā, purple triangles indicate that the words are from 'phase 3ā, turquoise triangles indicate that the words are from 'phase 5ā and grey triangles indicate that the words are from phase 6+. The ākeyā at the top of each sheet also makes this colour coded system clear.
Red letters indicate the tricky/irregular letters/sounds.
Where individual letters are underlined - this indicates that together these (underlined) letters have one sound. Tricky words are underlined as one word instead.
Each page is numbered e.g. ā1 of 4ā - find page numbers on the lower right side of each sheet.
The blue box outline colour indicates that these words are all part of the ānumber namesā set.
